Boarding Rates – Effective September 30, 2025
Rates may change before they are updated on this website. We recommend that you confirm rates when you make your reservation and again when you drop your pet off for boarding.
Boarding rates apply for the day your pet is dropped off, and every day, the pet remains in our care past our 12-noon checkout time. If you check out before noon or if your pet is groomed on the final day (this does not apply to Sundays or Holidays), you are not charged a boarding fee for the last day.
Our rates do not vary with your pet’s size or breed. We also do not charge extra for feeding your own food or administering medications you provide, except for injections, as noted below.
Our boarding fee includes one playtime per day. Additional fees may be charged for extra playtime, stuffed Kongs, medical injections, after-hour services, trips to and from the airport, and trips to and from the veterinarian.
Since area veterinarians typically do not see non-clients, our only option may be to take your pet to one of the emergency veterinary hospitals in Maine. This can result in charges for staff time and mileage in addition to the veterinary costs. Since the closest emergency hospital, Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic, occasionally does not accept clients, we may need to transport your pet a substantial distance to get them the care they need, which can add a significant cost to their stay with us. While this happens very rarely, you need to be aware of it.
Bookings and Cancellations – Boarding reservations can be made in person, over the phone, or by emailing us at [email protected]. Please do not make reservations via Facebook. We often have a “No Vacancy” status during busy times, such as when children are out of school. We encourage you to make your boarding reservations well in advance to avoid us having to tell you that “We have no vacancies.”
If you do not need a reservation you have booked, please call us and cancel at least 48 hours before your reservation so we have ample time to fill your pet’s space with someone on our waiting list. Failing to cancel may result in our requiring advance payment for any future reservations and loss of your VIP or VIPPlus status. We understand that family emergencies can occur, and if you explain a sudden cancellation, we will work with you. Our boarding rates are designed around optimal occupancy. Those who cancel at the last minute or do not show up and do not even have the courtesy to cancel at all drive rates up for everyone.
Boarding for Dogs
The base boarding rate for a dog includes one playtime of your choice: snuggle time, individual play, or group play. Not all dogs are suitable for group play, and eligibility is determined solely by Green Acres Kennel Shop. If you request group play and your dog is eligible for group play, you will receive a boarding discount, as noted below. An additional playtime may be added for an extra fee.
Dogs boarding in the same kennel must reside in the same household and be able to eat beside one another without supervision. Green Acres Kennel Shop reserves the right to board animals separately if it believes it is in the best interests of the animals. This decision may be based on size, activity level, and behavior. Green Acres will determine the maximum number of dogs allowed per run.
Green Acres Kennel Shop offers a VIP and VIP Plus Client Loyalty program based on a client’s pet food and supplies purchases in our store. Eligibility for participation in the program is determined in the spring.
VIP and VIP Plus Loyalty Programs – Green Acres offers VIP and VIP PLUS loyalty programs to clients who spend a certain amount over 12 months. For example, in 2024, VIP clients will receive a 5% discount on boarding, daycare, and grooming services, while VIP PLUS clients will receive a 10% discount on boarding, daycare, and grooming services. VIP and VIP Plus clients may also receive special product offers via email. A current email on file with Green Acres is required to participate in our VIP programs. Client spending is evaluated annually every year.

1 Individual Play – Dogs will be taken out one at a time for a play session with a pet care technician when the client requests or if Green Acres determines that a dog is unsuitable for group play. Dogs from the same family sharing a kennel will be taken out together but billed at the individual rate if they cannot be taken out with non-familiar dogs.
2 Group Play – Dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs may be taken out with other dogs at playtime when you request and when Green Acres Kennel Shop has determined that a dog is suitable for group play. These dogs receive a discounted boarding rate.

All materials and medications required for injections or the administration of Subcutaneous fluids will be provided by the client, who will also be responsible for the appropriate disposal of all materials. You will be charged for each injection or each administration of subcutaneous fluids. We recommend that pets requiring regular subcutaneous fluids not be boarded.
