May 20th thru May 26th is National Dog Bite Prevention week. According to the web site of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), 4.7 million people in this country are bitten by dogs every year and children are the most common victims with senior citizens being the second most common dog bite victims. Medical attention is required for 800,000 Americans every year, approximately half of them children, who are far more likely to be severely injured. Most bites received by children occur during everyday activities while the child is interacting with a dog it knows.
Dog bites can be greatly reduced by education, so Green Acres will be offering a FREE Dog Bite Prevention seminar, geared towards children and adults, On Saturday, May 26th at 2:30PM and Sunday, June 3rd at 1PM.

What would you do if your dog sustains a serious injury while out hiking? Do you know what to do if your cat stops breathing? Knowing how to perform basic pet first aid and CPR could help you save your pet’s life.
