Refresher Classes We Make Training Fun for You and Your Dog! Dog Friendly! – NO pain, intimidation, alpha rolls, scruff shakes, prong, choke or shock collars. Small class sizes, individual attention. Relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Family attendance encouraged. Scientific, proven, effective training methods for all dogs and breeds. Program supervised by Certified Professional Dog Trainers and Certified Therapy Dog evaluator. Green Acres Kennel Shop offers three refresher training classes; a walking politely class, a recall class and a shaping class. Enrollees must have completed a Green Acres Basic Manners class or have the approval of our Training Manager. Each class will run for four weeks and will cost $50. As you well know, walking politely and recall can be two of the most important and challenging behaviors to train your dog. In these classes we refine the basics that you learned in your Basic Manners class and help your dog to overcome the obstacles in training these behaviors. We will begin the first week with the distractions of working in our fenced play yard and eventually work up to distractions such as toys, food, and the other dogs and people in your class. We will also help you improve your skills as a trainer. These classes present an excellent opportunity to further develop your dog’s walking or recall skills. There are several rewarded-based methods to teach a dog a new behavior. One of the most exciting ways to watch a dog learn is by a method known as shaping. In this class we will teach you how to use shaping to teach your dog several fun and useful behaviors such as; going to lie down on a mat, getting onto a grooming table, waving their paw, and retrieving objects. Come develop your skills as a trainer and have fun watching your dog learn some new tricks! The class fee is $50.00 for four weeks of classes and pre-registration is required as limited spaces are available. Call 945-6841 to register or send in the enclosed form with your registration fee. As with all of our classes, dogs must be current on their Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella vaccinations.
