Pet food is a complicated business and unfortunately the manufacturers do NOT put all of the information on the labels needed to make an educated purchase decision. Green Acres has created and maintains a database on dog and cat food which includes much of the information that is “not readily available.” The database not only includes the brands we sell, but also many of the brands we choose not to sell. With the aid of this database we can show you why we sell what we do, and exactly how much it costs to feed your pet on a daily basis. We believe that it is not in our best interest to sell you “the special of the month” or the food that has the highest profit margins. We would rather work with you to help you find the food that will be the best for your pet’s health and have the least impact on your wallet!

We firmly believe that if you are looking to get a dog, a cat, a puppy or a kitten, the first place you should look is at the Bangor Humane Society, or one of the many other animal shelters or rescue groups in our area. Thousands of wonderful, loving pet’s who need new homes can be found at these shelters and rescue organizations.

If your heart is set on a pure breed puppy or kitten, please purchase them from a reputable breeder. Reputable breeders will ONLY sell directly to you; they do not sell their precious pets through retailers.

Green Acres offers a free, Selecting the Perfect Pet program, to help you determine the best pet for your family or life style. We would gladly provide you with our recommended criteria for selecting a reputable breeder.

We Do NOT Sell Products Designed to Hurt Your Pet

We do not sell, recommend or use shock collars, underground fence systems, choke collars or prong collars. The main purpose of these devices is to train a dog by causing severe pain. Pain is not necessary to train, nor is it the most effective way to train any animal. Ample evidence exists to show that these devices often cause serious aggression which may lead to euthanasia. As true pet lovers, we will not ethically support these products, the companies that make them, or the businesses that sell them.
