Wysong is owned and run by veterinarian, Dr. Randy Wysong. He is the only President of a pet food company that routinely recommends that the best diet for our pets is NOT Wysong’s processed food or anyone else’s commercial product, but instead, is fresh, whole foods as provided by nature. He readily admits that processed foods, even Wysong’s, are only second best to what nature provides. Dr. Wysong also recognizes the value in rotating what we feed our pets, and was recommending it long before we started doing so at Green Acres. (see Alternating Your Dogs Food Makes Sense). Wysong now offers their food in a variety pack to make it convenient to routinely alternate your dog’s diet.

Wholesome ingredients are the key to any pet food, and Wysong goes to great lengths to ensure that they only use the best. They use fresh meats, the chicken in their foods all come from farmers that raise them “free-range,” and the grains are all used as whole ingredients, not grain fractions. Wysong also supplements their food with naturally occurring enzymes of the type that are found in fresh, raw food, to aid in the digestion and utilization of the nutrients in their product. Probiotic cultures and Prebiotics are added to the food to help support the natural bacterial flora in our pet’s digestive systems.

Wysong’s Archetype™ diets are the next best think to feeding your pet raw meat. Dentatreat™

Wysong’s Dentatreat™ provides an alternative to brushing our pet’s teeth on a daily basis. It uses the scientifically-proven beneficial properties of cheeses, probiotics, minerals and other natural ingredients to keep teeth clean. I’ll be the first to admit, that we do not do a satisfactory job of brushing our pets teeth. We’ve been sprinkling Dentatreat™ on their meals twice a day since the product became available and have noticed a marked reduction in the need for professional teeth cleaning at the veterinarians.

Call of the Wild™

More and more pet guardians are feeding their pets a raw diet, at least part of the time. If they are not using one of the commercially prepared and balanced diets, they do need to be careful to make sure their pet is getting the required levels of micronutrients. Wysong Call of the Wild™ has been specially formulated to address that need.

Pet Innoculant™

If you have had your pets any length of time, you know that occasionally they are susceptible to bouts of digestive distress just like us. These bouts might be due to stress, a virus, or even from the use of antibiotics which along with killing the bad bacteria in the digestive tract can also kill the necessary bacteria. Pet Innoculant contains an orally-dosed concentration of probiotic cultures and immunoglobulins and helps restore these beneficial bacteria to the digestive system.

Our Personal Experience with Wysong

We have been selling Wysong pet foods and supplements at Green Acres since the summer of 1997. They are without a doubt, the dry and canned food that I recommend most frequently.

When the Wysong sales representative walked in our door in the Spring of 1997 we were not looking for another food to sell. Then we started sharing stories about dogs and learned that he had a dog with a long history of urinary tract and bladder problems, much like our Cairn Terrier Gus. The salesman offered us a free 6-week supply of Wysong dry dog food and a bottle of Wysong’s Biotic ph supplement, advising us that this had resolved his dog’s perpetual urinary health problems.

We had been dealing with Gus’ urinary tract infections and bladder stones for six years. All of our veterinarians had advised us it was a dietary problem, but none could find a diet that resolved it. Over the past six years we had tried practically every premium dog food on the market, including mixing them in precise ratios of kibbles, trying to balance the pH of Gus’ urine. We even spent several months, home-cooking for Gus, all to no avail; needless to say, we were skeptical that Wysong had the “magic bullet,” but also desperate.

It was with great pleasure that we called the Wysong rep five weeks later to tell him that Gus was healthy for the first time in six years, and to invite him in to tell us more about Wysong’s products. Until we switched to an all raw diet, our dogs were all fed Wysong for many years and thrived on it.

Our cat Batman has been on Uretic™ as his dry food since his episode with urolithiasis a few years ago. Wysong’s canned foods are also a regular part of Batman’s diet.
