The mission of the Green Acres’ groomers is to make your pet look and feel its best. We groom all breeds of dogs and cats, including mixed breeds, in a kind, gentle manner.
Grooming services offered at Green Acres include baths, clips, show cuts and nail trims. Green Acres only uses quality, professional grade shampoos and conditioners and EPA registered flea shampoo, if a flea bath is necessary.

Although we do nail trims on a walk-in basis, appointments are required for all other grooming services. The groomers are available Monday through Friday. Pets are dropped off between 7:30AM and 9:00AM and are usually ready to be picked up by mid-afternoon. A limited number of grooming appointments are available on Saturdays. If these hours are problematic for you please call and we will attempt to make other arrangements.

A good groomer will have the eye of an artist, the hands of a skilled craftsman, the knowledge of a pet care professional and the patience of a saint. Grooming ability comes from a natural love of animals, a solid education and lots of experience. Green Acres groomers Shannan Bodwell and Rachel McLeod exceed the standard on all counts.

Shannan is a graduate of the New York School of Grooming and has been grooming pets at Green Acres since 1986. An avid competitor, Shannan has won awards for her grooming, each of the four times she has entered a competition. In 1999 Shannan placed 2nd at the NEPGP Fall Festival in the Mixed Miscellaneous category with her dog Mikey. In 2000 she placed 3rd at Intergroom, an International competition, in the Hand Stripped division with Cairn Terrier, Dulcie Hanson. The 2001 NEPGP Fall Festival saw Shannan take a 3rd in the Terrier division with Airedale Maxx King. Shannan took 3rd Place in the Poodle division with her Toy Poodle Finneus, at the 2002 NEPGP Fall Festival.

Rachel started her career in professional pet care at Green Acres in 2003 as a Pet Care Technician. She is a PCSA/ABKA Certified Advanced Pet Care Technician and Licensed Veterinary Technician. In the summer of 2006 Rachel was promoted to Kennel Manager. Under the tutelage of senior groomer Shannon Bodwell, Rachel started training as a groomer in the Spring of 2008. Rachel is currently transitioning out of kennel management into a position as a full-time groomer.

To ensure the health of all pets in our care, we will need to see proof of vaccination for rabies, and either proof of vaccination or proof of immunity for distemper for your pets prior to their grooming. Proof of immunity would require a letter from your veterinarian stating that titer tests are performed and that your pet has sufficient immunity. A day before your appointment, we will contact your veterinarian to request this information.

If you want your pet to look and feel his best, give us a call and make an appointment to see Shannan or Rachel. Both you and your pet will be glad you did.
