As of 7AUG10 we are seeking a part time, pet care technician as described below.

The Job

A Pet Care Technician is responsible for caring for our many guests, primarily dogs and cats. This care will involve cleaning resting and play areas, feeding, medicating, and supervising play activities. Some customer service and retail duties may also be assigned. The job is very physical in nature and the ability to lift 50 pounds is required. Work will occur both indoors and outdoors throughout the year in good and bad weather. The ability to use a computer to enter data and print reports is necessary. There is potential for advancement for the candidate that demonstrates leadership skills, dependability and good judgment.

There is currently a part time position available. Shifts vary from 4 to 8 hours in length and will average from 15 to 25 hours per week. The part time position may be assigned an open shift (typically 6:30AM to 3PM) or a closing shirt (typically 3PM to 8PM). All kennel staff are assigned an abbreviated shift on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) shifts, evening shifts and other holiday shifts may also be required.

While experience is preferred, we will train the right person. Continued employment will depend on your passing two written exams. You will need to take Green Acres pet care technician examination within 60 days of hire and the Pet Care Services Association (PCSA) Pet Technician I test within 150 days of hire. Study materials and assistance will be provided for both exams. Wage adjustments will be made based on your performance on the exams and current job performance. Job Requirements

• Ability to work weekends, school vacations and holidays, including an abbreviated shift on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
• Ability to use a Windows based computer

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED or current enrollment in high school (Part time position only)
