Tuesday, 22 December 2009
The Green Acres staff knows that positive reinforcement works as well with people as it does with animals. Every month the Green Acres staff chooses two Staff Champions; someone who has done an exceptional job and someone who has publicly recognized another employee for doing an exceptional job. A hearty congratulations and thank you to our latest champions!

Our December 2009 PawPrints Newsletter

Where's The Green Acres' Newsletter?

Over the past several months, several of you have asked why you have not received a recent Green Acres Kennel Shop newsletter. You have told us that you enjoy the newsletter and miss it. We appreciate that! When Paula and I became the owners of Green Acres we not only wanted to provide your pets with a "home away from home," but we also wanted to become a reliable source for useful, pet-related information. It has been our goal to serve as a resource that can help you and your pet to have the best life possible. The newsletter was one of the tools we used to pursue that goal. Since we mailed that first newsletter costs have increased and technology has improved. As a result we have decided that we can best provide you with pet-related information, notification of sales, and special coupons electronically via our web site (www.greenacreskennel.com), blog (www.greenacreskennel.com/blog), The Woof Meow Show (WVOM 103.9 FM & WVQM 101.3 FM- Sunday at 8:30PM) and direct emails from our new kennel management software. As a result, the newsletter we mailed before Thanksgiving will be the last we send to you via the US postal service. We do recognize that not all of you have access to the Internet so we will occasionally have a limited number of copies of newsletters available in the store.

Do We Have Your Email Address?

Our new kennel management software will allow us to send you special discounts, coupons and information in place of the newsletter we used to send in the mail. However, this will only work if we have a valid email address for you in the computer. It is our policy not to release any of your contact information to anyone else. Nor will we inundate your mailbox with daily, non-relevant missives. We will send you the occasional special offer, health alerts, and links to articles that we think you may find of interest. Eventually, we will also send out confirmations and reminders for boarding and grooming reservations via email. If we have your pet's birth date on file they may receive a special coupon the month of their birthday. If you have received this newsletter electronically we either have your email in the system, you subscribe to our blog, or you have downloaded it from our web site. If you received this newsletter some other way and want to be on our email list, please send an email, including your name, phone number and your pet's name, to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Alternatively you can call us at 945-6841. You will want to do that no later than December 20th as we will be emailing out a very special offer before the end of the year.

Dog License Promotion

Keeping your dog licensed within the community where you live is not only the law but also will assist your dog in a safe return should he or she ever stray and become lost.  The fee you pay for licensing helps your municipality cover the costs associated with animal control and is the primary source of funding for the Maine Animal Welfare Program (AWP). The AWP is a vital component of state government that protects all domestic animals; dogs, cats, horses, livestock and others, from abuse. If you license your dog(s) for 2010 before December 18th and bring proof of license into the store between November 30th and December 18th, we will give you a coupon good for $5 off any $25 purchase. Limit one coupon per family. Coupons must be used by 1/31/10.

New Products!

NutriSource

The NutriSource family of pet foods (NutriSource, Pure Vita, and Natural Planet Organics) that we introduced in July continues to grow in popularity. All three varieties have been recommended by The Whole Dog Journal and meet our recommendations for a high quality dry, pet food. The NutriSource family frequent buyer program allows you to mix and match between all three varieties and after purchasing 12 items you will get the 13th for free. In November, NutriSource launched a line of canned foods, offering three formulas for cats and three formulas for dogs. If you feed a canned food we recommend you try the NutriSource products - you pet will be glad that you did!

Weruva

Canned food is extremely important for cats and when we were introduced to Weruva canned cat food at a recent trade show, we knew it would be a big hit with your cats and with you! All you need to do is to open a can and take a look and you will see that Weruva is a unique cat food. Instead of seeing the typical can filled with ground up mush you will see real chicken, beef, mackerel, calamari, and many other examples of real, whole food. With sixteen different formulations, even the fussiest cat will find choices that they love.

Thank You for Your Continued Support

It is that time of year when many of us tend to look back on all that we have to be thankful for. All of us at Green Acres are very grateful for your continued patronage and support in these tough economic times. We are also thankful and honored that you allow us to take care of your furry companions. Each has their own unique personality that enlivens our day in a special way. Lastly, but far from least, Paula and I are especially appreciative of our  Green Acres family ( Aaron, Adam, Amber, Angela, Becky, Brenda, Christie, Hilary, Jay, Joel, Kaila, Kate, Lori, Mallory, Rachael, Rachel, Shannan and Tracy), that enable Green Acres Kennel Shop to be your pet's home away from home. We wish you a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year!

License Your Dog - Get $5

Thursday, 03 December 2009
Keeping your dog licensed within the community where you live is not only the law but also will assist your dog in a safe return should he or she ever stray and become lost.  The fee you pay for licensing helps your municipality cover the costs associated with animal control and is the primary source of funding for the Maine Animal Welfare Program (AWP). The AWP is a vital component of state government that protects all domestic animals; dogs, cats, horses, livestock and others, from abuse. At Green Acres Kennel Shop we believe that dog licensing is so important that we will give you a coupon good for $5 off any $25 purchase if you license your dog for 2010 before December 18th and bring proof of license into the store by December 18th. Limit one coupon per family. Coupons must be used by 1/31/10. That is almost like getting a free license if your dog is spayed or neutered ($7 license fee) or getting your license at a 40% discount if your dog is intact ($12 license fee). Sadly, a huge number of our fellow citizens do not take the time to license their dog, putting your dog and all animals in Maine at risk. Please do your part.
